Narragansett Campus

Ocean Tides’ Narragansett School, our main campus, is a residential school for boys grades eight through twelve who are in the Ocean Tides Residential Program. Offering a full high school diploma, the school is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Education, and accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. We offer a certified special education program.

The school provides ongoing educational services, structure and support. Given the severe educational problems our students have experienced in the past, we seek to provide creative, individualized programs that meet each student’s needs. We provide positive behavior programs and multiple positive behavioral supports, a small school atmosphere – four to twelve students per class – and individualized instruction based on IEPs.

The hallmarks of our success are individual attention, a personal, caring atmosphere and a sincere desire to see our students achieve and reach their educational goals. Our success is proven with:

  • high graduation rates.
  • an excellent transition of students to adult programs or further education.
  • high success rate of students returning to their home schools.

Entrance to the school is through the judicial process, and experience has shown good candidates are those who:

  • have had difficulties with social issues in school and need social development.
  • will benefit from structure, a small class size and personal attention.
  • want a new start to complete their education and earn a diploma.
  • need and want support for their emotional disabilities.
  • have been unsuccessful in traditional larger high school environments.
