Rooted in a Lasallian Education

As part of one of the largest educational networks in the world, Lasallian education can be found in over 100 schools and ministries throughout the United States and Canada.

Lasallian education centers on Catholic values and personal relationships, emphasizing academic excellence, faith formation, inclusion, respect for the individual, service and social justice. A Lasallian education strives to enrich each student’s cultural, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development.

It is a model of care built on developing trust in our youth. It encourages the practice of developing positive encouragement, building self-esteem, knowing individual needs and developing a sense of family and community. Lasallian education emphasizes correction rather than punishment as it asks our faculty and staff to consider themselves mentors and role models working together and by association to care for youth and to consider their work part of their personal vocation or call.

History of the De La Salle Christian Brothers

Lasallian education was born in the late 1600s France with the founding of the Brothers of the Christian Schools by Saint John Baptist de La Salle. He opened schools to teach children of the artisans and the poor, abandoned and left to themselves far from salvation, and to provide a human and Christian education.

Today, the De La Salle Christian Brothers and their Lasallian partners continue to respond to students through advancements in teaching, technology and scholarship. In Lasallian communities, educators touch hearts, stimulate minds and cultivate leadership to prepare students for life, work, and service to society and the church.
