A De La Salle Christian Brother for more than 60 years, Michael Reis, FSC was known throughout the state and beyond as a champion for children, especially at-risk young people. Brother Michael co-founded Ocean Tides in 1974 and was our first Chief Executive Officer. He would then go on to found Tides Family Services in 1983, which now serves more than 500 youth each day. First Fall Fete 2022 a Wonderful Success

Our annual celebration of touching hearts, teaching minds, and transforming lives.

We are truly grateful to all of you that made our Fall fundraiser a success.

On Friday, October 21, Christian Brothers Center and Ocean Tides in Narragansett was full of energy as we celebrated Lasallian Service Award honorees Mr. Charlie Couto, Representative Marvin L. Abney, and Senator Ryan Pearson for their dedication to young people and to the staff that works with and guides them.

It was also a wonderful opportunity to thank all of you, both near and far, for your support of the necessary programming that helps our young men thrive here at Ocean Tides each day.

Special thanks to our many attendees who came out to Christian Brothers Center in Narragansett to honor and celebrate our Lasallian Service Awards recipients

Ocean Tides School Offers Two New Career Development Courses

Narragansett, RI – Ocean Tides School kicked off the 2nd semester with two new career development courses: Computer Numerical Control Machining and Video Production

CNC class

An Ocean Tides student sets up the parameters for his project.

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining class is exploring the manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software will dictate the movement of the cutting process. The class is co-taught by instructors Ron Giles and Rick Soderberg. Students will design and program the software, then format the machine and engage in individual cutting projects.

Video Production class

Doug Corey will instruct students on how to plan, shoot, and edit professional digital content. The students will design storyboards and be involved behind the camera, production, and talent in front of the camera.

Internships and Graduations, Students Excel at Providence Campus

Mr. Charles Couto and graduates
Mr. Charle Couto, Principal for Ocean Tides’ Providence campus celebrates two graduating students.

Providence, RI – 2022 brought good news for many Ocean Tides students at the Providence day campus! Young men that originally thought there was no hope in graduating from high school, can now proudly say they have earned their diplomas from Ocean Tides.

Ocean Tides student in electrical class
Yaniel, seen here in electrical class, recently earned an internship.

Ocean Tides has also been working with the community to provide internships for real-world working experience. Ocean Tides Providence campus’ many different vocational offerings provide the skills needed to be adept in a trade. With internship partnerships in the community, our students can put those skills to the test in their field. Congratulations to Yaniel who was offered an internship recently with a local auto mechanics shop in Pawtucket. Added bonus is it is not far from his home, making his commute much easier, with greater opportunity for success!
